Content Management (CMS ) Applications.
All the rage today for those who's content changes frequently, whether you
do it yourself or have us or someone else manage your materials. CMS
software is a database driven web site that consists of two major parts.
The viewer's web site and your content manager portal or control panel.
CMS can be designed to look like any other page, where it shines is in the
ease of managing the content without having to employ a webmaster to make
changes. The owner of the site is provided with a secure control panel by
which he/she can add, edit or delete articles and modify the menu to reflect
those changes. You can upload and include images and other files. Typically
such programs give your visitor the option of printing PDF copies of pages,
emailing contents to friends or contributing your articles to various social
network sites such as Blogspot, Facebook, Digg, Yahoo etc.
You can even assign different people to manage different sections of your
site while prohibiting them from making any other changes.
You can allow ( not required ) registration of members and restrict certain
content to only those who are registered. You can permit registered users
to contribute to your content. You set the restrictions.
There are many available add on features to choose from including but not
limited to galleries, calendars, forums, blogs and more. Most are OpenSource
and do not require a license fee, only the cost of labor to install and configure
if you choose to have your webmaster do this for you. Most are easy to install
on your own making these truly DIY web sites once the basic software is
installed.
These are ideal installations for community based sites with a lot of constantly
changing text information.
